THE WOODLANDS, TX – Up against fourteen (14) youth clubs from across the state, Rowing Club of The Woodlands (RCTW) made its best showing ever at Texas Rowing Championships, held at a new venue complete with new beach and new course, at Tradinghouse Creek Reservoir in Waco, TX. Representing over 300 entries from 21 clubs and universities,, rowers across Texas traveled to Waco to sprint 2000 meters to the finish line. Due to high winds, the youth portion of the two-day regatta was condensed into one, with few events holding time trials, most events only racing finals.

Woodlands Crew boasts best scullers in Texas

RCTW dominated the sculling events, outperforming the competition and earning the team award “Scull & Bones.” Team records were shattered as the team earned Top 3 finishes in all fifteen (15) events entered, and multiple medals in several events. RCTW triumphed as state title winners in six (6) events, twice as many as in 2022. The mens varsity quad, led by reigning national single scull champion, earned three (3) state title varsity trophies amongst them, in the mens youth single scull, the mens youth double scull, and the mens youth quad scull. Another gold medaling crew, the womens under 17 quad, has 3 returning athletes from last year's nationals-qualifying quad and is training with intention of winning gold at Central Youth Championships and ultimately dominating the course at Youth Nationals.

The entire team continues training rigorously to compete and excel in a week at Central Youth Championships, a USRowing Youth Nationals qualifying event, in Oklahoma City.
