San Jacinto River Authority is keeping a sharp eye on weather-related water levels

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The San Jacinto River Authority continues to closely monitor the National Weather Service’s Gulf Coast forecast. The potential for heavy rainfall continues through today. Forecasts continue to predict the Lake Conroe watershed is expected to receive 2 to 3 inches, with the chance for isolated areas to exceed the forecast. SJRA is prepared if rainfall totals exceed the forecasted totals.

SJRA manages Lake Conroe storm releases any time the normal “full” level exceeds 201 feet above mean sea level (msl). SJRA is already in gate operations from previous storms that have put Lake Conroe over the 201-ft. pool level. This is expected to be a moderate rainfall event. The authority is in communication with the National Weather Service and local offices of emergency management.

Local residents can check lake level and release information in real time at www.sjra.net and visit Know Your Watershed at www.knowyourwatershed.com for information regarding watersheds and flow patterns for the various creeks and tributaries downstream of Lake Conroe. Residents should also monitor the local weather stations, as well as their local Office of Emergency Management for the latest weather information.
