THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Montgomery County Food Bank announced Kroger donated $100,000 as well as $51,810 worth of in-kind food donations to help the Food Bank further its vision of a community where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food. At Montgomery County Food Bank, every dollar donated provides up to four meals, so Kroger’s $100,000 monetary donation helps provide up to 400,000 meals for those in need throughout the county.

Montgomery County Food Bank is working hard to meet the steady demand for food assistance as grocery prices and the overall cost of living continue to rise. In March alone, the Food Bank served more than 879,000 meals to over 84,000 people facing hunger in Montgomery County.

“Kroger is a dedicated and faithful supporter of Montgomery County Food Bank,” said Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “Our mission is to unite the community to fight hunger, and Kroger’s generous donation is an excellent
example of our mission in action. This donation will make a substantial difference in the lives of our many neighbors in need.”

“Kroger is committed to creating Zero Hunger | Zero Waste communities, and we are honored to be a longstanding partner of Montgomery County Food Bank,” said Liz Colvin, Kroger Houston’s Vice President of Merchandising and Montgomery County Food Bank Board Member. “Kroger is here to help feed our neighbors in need, and we will continue to live out our purpose to feed the human spirit here in Montgomery County through kind and generous actions.”

Kroger’s donation qualifies the company as one of Montgomery County Food Bank’s esteemed Platinum-level ‘Hunger Heroes’ which is the Food Bank’s annual sponsorship program. Each ‘Hunger Hero’ sponsor plays a critical role in the fight to end hunger in Montgomery County. To learn more about Montgomery County Food Bank and its Hunger Heroes program, visit mcfoodbank.org.
