CONROE, TX -- Montgomery County Food Bank is proud to announce the completion of its 18,000-square-foot facility expansion, a transformational milestone in its ongoing mission of uniting the community to fight hunger. The newly expanded space will allow the Food Bank to distribute 1 million more meals each year, helping to meet a rapidly growing need for food assistance across Montgomery County. Nearly 9 million meals were distributed to Montgomery County neighbors in 2024.

Ribbon cutting celebrates 18,000 square feet of new space dedicated to distributing 1 million more meals annually across Montgomery County.

Located within one of the fastest growing counties in the country, Montgomery County Food Bank strategically planned and fundraised through their “Build Today, Feed Tomorrow” capital campaign to ensure it could stay ahead of demand and strengthen its ability to serve more neighbors, more efficiently. With an estimated 100,000 Montgomery County residents facing food insecurity — a number that continues to rise — Montgomery County Food Bank stands ready to serve with expanded capacity and unwavering commitment.

“This expansion represents far more than bricks and mortar,” said Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “It’s about people, purpose, and partnership. It’s about what happens when a community comes together with compassion and determination to fight hunger. It’s an investment in the future of our community—one that will allow us to serve more people, provide more nutritious food, and do so with greater efficiency and care.”

The Food Bank’s Conroe facility now features expanded volunteer capacity, including a larger parking lot and a brand new Volunteer Center designed to enhance the volunteer experience and accommodate more groups. The expansion also drastically increases food sorting and storage capabilities—boosting refrigerated space by 43% to better preserve and distribute fresh, nutritious food. Altogether, these improvements will enable Montgomery County Food Bank to deliver an additional one million meals each year to neighbors in need across the community.

“As community developers, our role goes beyond constructing buildings—it’s about supporting the people and organizations that strengthen our communities,” said Jim Carman, president of the Texas region for Howard Hughes Communities and board chairman of the Montgomery County Food Bank. “Now in its 40th year, the Montgomery County Food Bank remains a cornerstone of support for our region. Our team was honored to help guide this significant expansion, including the new Howard Hughes Produce Rescue Center, to meet the growing needs of our community.”

The project was made possible through the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and foundations who contributed to the Build Today, Feed Tomorrow campaign. The collective support of the following groups has brought this vision to life and strengthened the Food Bank’s ability to respond to rising levels of need:

• Huntsman Corporation & Brynn and Peter Huntsman
• Woodforest National Bank & Woodforest Charitable Foundation
• ExxonMobil
• Howard Hughes
• The Woodlands Methodist Church
• Tricia and Jack Futcher
• Kroger
• Nelda Luce Blair, Maris Blair, and David Hall
• Kelley and Jim Wolf
• The Kwasny Family
• Jennifer and Scott Burns
• Kristine and Garth Marlow

To celebrate this accomplishment, Montgomery County Food Bank hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 28, welcoming supporters, donors, and community leaders to see firsthand the impact of their contributions. With this expansion now complete, Montgomery County Food Bank is ready to move forward—building a stronger, more resilient network of hope and nourishment for neighbors throughout Montgomery County.
