THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack is proposing a land swap that would pave the way for a state-of-the-art public library and new South County Community Center while revitalizing the Grogan’s Mill Village Center in The Woodlands.

Under the proposal, Montgomery County would receive the Grogan’s Mill Village Center space, including parking and the newly constructed public building(s), in exchange for the current South County Community Center and Library property in the Town Center area of The Woodlands.
The plan would solidify the long-awaited and much-anticipated redevelopment of the oldest village center in The Woodlands – WITHOUT any apartment or housing development on the property, eliminating concerns of township residents.

“Our goal is for that space to not only be revitalized, but to preserve and protect it in a way that serves our residents long term,” Commissioner Noack said. “With the strong working relationships among the Precinct 3 Commissioner’s Office, The Woodlands Township and Howard Hughes Corporation, we can accomplish these big, collaborative projects.”

Commissioner Noack has listened to residents, and this initiative would provide more parking for voters, more capacity for voting machines, larger space to feed our seniors, updated and modern facilities, the ability to integrate new technologies, as well as dedicated adult, young adult and children’s library space with child friendly amenities – all while eliminating any potential threat of a multifamily or single-family housing project replacing the much-loved Grogan’s Mill Village Center.

In the plan proposed by Commissioner Noack’s team, the revitalized center would include a permanent structure for The Woodlands Farmers Market at Grogan’s Mill and other wanted amenities to be released by Howard Hughes, in addition to the modern public library and new South County Community Center.
