THE WOODLANDS, TX – We should point out that the Woodlands Online Weather Center comes up with its forecasts by consulting multiple official sources and promoting the trends that the majority stick together on. However, something funky is in the air today, as one major weather outlet is predicting rain, rain, and more rain… and it’s standing alone in its stance. We’re not going to name names or point fingers at an obvious technical glitch, but we will say that, if you tend to consult your phone for your local weather, you might want to reconsider for this weekend.

Grab the SPF and bottled water

That being said, it’s Father’s Day Weekend – check out our Father’s Guide here for ideas on what to do with dad – and we’re firmly entrenched in summer weather, even if summer won’t officially arrive until next Wednesday. Believe it or not, our highs are already breaking the century mark, with humidity making it even more unbearable. We can’t caution you all strongly enough to stay hydrated, cool, and covered during the brunt of the hot days.

The slightly cooling wind gusts of this morning are already starting to diminish and by tonight will barely be able to be felt. The clouds are going away as well, leaving pretty much nothing between us and the blazing sun. The high temperature early this afternoon will hover between 98 and 100 degrees, but the humidity will make it feel like a staggering 114. In fact, even at around 9 o’clock tonight the raw temp will be 90 and it will still feel like 100, so here’s hoping you’ve already tuned up your home’s air conditioning unit. If you like, you can work up a sweat in AC’d comfort at Condition 1 as it hosts a special, free Veterans Night.

Our overnight low of 77 will actually hit just around sunrise tomorrow morning. The clouds will come back in force, but this time they’ll help trap the already hot ground level where it is. They’ll slowly dissipate throughout Saturday afternoon, and we’ll end up with another scorcher, only a couple of degrees lower than Friday. If you hit the Fired Up Tour at Fire Station No. 4, maybe you can convince the firefighters to hose you down a bit.

On Sunday, it will be more of the same; clouds in the morning, more sunshine in the afternoon and evening, highs around 100 with the humidity adding somewhere between 10 - 15 degrees, and lows in the mid to upper 70s. All weekend long, there is the slightest chance of the occasional sprinkle or two of rain, but nothing that would bring any relief. Don’t pay attention to what your Apple device might have to say about the matter; instead of nourishing precipitation, this weekend will feature yard-shriveling dry heat. Maybe try to beat the heat with some indoor volleyball courtesy of Woody Pine Sports.

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
