Bluegill Pond at Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center offers fun fishing

THE WOODLANDS, TX - Summer is the perfect time to go fishing at the Bluegill Pond, home to several native species, such as catfish, bluegill and bass. The fully stocked pond is part of Montgomery County Precinct 3's Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center.

Even those who don't have their own rod, reel, and bait can benefit; tackling equipment can be borrowed from the center's main booth. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance; visit their website for more details.

July events for the nature center include:

• Saturday, July 1, at 2 p.m.: Collection Chat – Taxidermy
• Tuesday, July 4: Nature Center is closed, Happy Fourth of July!
• Thursday, July 6, at 2 p.m.: Critter Chat
• Saturday July 8, at 2 p.m.: All About Alligators Presentation
• Tuesday July 11, at 2 p.m.: Critter Chat
• Thursday July 13, at 2 p.m.: Collection Chat – Bones
• Friday, July 14, starting at 7:30 a.m.: Fishing with the Sunrise (rental tackle is limited; please see website for more details)
• Saturday. July 15, at 2 p.m.: All About Trees Presentation
• Tuesday, July 18, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.: Story Time at the Reading Dock (inside)
• Wednesday. July 19. at 2 p.m.: Critter Chat
• Thursday. July 20. at 2 p.m.: All About Alligators Presentation
• Friday, July 21, at 10 a.m.: Friends of Texas Wildlife Presentation
• Saturday, July 22, at 9:30 a.m.: Birding Hike
