The Woodlands, TX -- Ardest Gallery, a local fine arts gallery, will be celebrating National Dog Day on August 26th in partnership with local dog rescue organizations. National Dog Day is celebrated each year on this day in an effort to not only celebrate all dogs, but to encourage adoption.

Throughout the day, visitors to the gallery will get a glimpse at local artists live painting commissioned pet portraits, can participate in a pet portrait painting class offered by artist Eric Sundin, and can learn more about local dog rescue organizations positively impacting our community by visiting with their representatives. A percentage of ALL gallery sales on National Dog Day will directly benefit these organizations.

“National Dog Day offers artists within our gallery community an opportunity to serve through their art. Seven gallery artists have generously agreed to donate a portion of commissioned pet portraits back to the referring organization,” said Julie Verville, Ardest Gallery Director. “Each of these artists offers a unique pet portrait style, giving pet owners a wide variety of options and price points to choose from.”

Among some of the local dog rescue organizations that the gallery has partnered with are Operation Pets Alive, Who Rescued Who and Lone Star Animal Rescue. Representatives from these organizations will be available throughout the day to provide information about their group, their available foster dogs and ways in which to support their initiatives.

The inspiration for this event was sparked by gallery owner’s mother Barbara, a long-time resident of The Woodlands and active foster volunteer. Verville’s newest family member is a foster dog originating from Who Rescued Who.

“Our family recently lost our beloved 12-year-old French Bulldog Louis. Two gallery artists created wonderful portraits of him, each in their own unique style, which are now hanging in our home. The joy that is sparked each and every time we pass by one of those paintings, was a huge inspiration behind organizing this art event,” shared Verville.
Participating artists include: Robyn Crowell, M L Huff, Lauren Luna, Jeff Lung, Judy Mackey, Teresa Staley and Eric Sundin.
