Illuminate the season with the Holiday Lighting and Decorating Contest
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township invites residents to take part in the beloved tradition of the annual Holiday Lighting and Decorating Contest. Hosted by most of the village associations with support from the Township and The Woodlands Fire Department (WFD), the contest brings a festive seasonal spirit to the community for residents and visitors.
"As the holiday season approaches, we're thrilled to announce our festive lighting contest, made possible by the hard work of our village associations and the support of our community,” said Township Chairman Dr. Ann K. Snyder. “This heartwarming contest not only illuminates our neighborhoods but also highlights the spirit of togetherness and community pride."
There are usually two categories in each participating village: Best Home and Best Neighborhood. A neighborhood is broadly defined as a few homes located within close proximity, or an entire cul-de-sac or subdivision. Whenever possible, WFD will provide an escort to accompany the awards caravan for the Best Neighborhood. Prizes will be awarded for the various categories, including yard signs and plaques in recognition of the winners.
To enter the contest, just decorate the outside of your home for viewing by the judges during the month of December. Members of each village association serve as contest judges and the selection of winners is left to their sole discretion. For judging dates and criteria, please contact your village association via their website at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/villageassociations.
Please remember that winter holiday decorations and lights may be illuminated beginning now through January 15, 2024. Seasonal displays must be limited in scope and not become a nuisance or annoyance to the neighborhood.
The Township wishes you and your loved ones a festive and safe holiday season!
