Shenandoah PD announces Take Back Drug Day

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The City of Shenandoah and the Shenandoah Police Department have announced that they will participate in the upcoming DEA National Take Back Drug Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Public Works Bay. The bay is located at the south end of the Municipal Complex at 29955 I45 in Shenandoah.

DEA’s Take Back Day provides a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

Here are some frequently asked questions about the event:

  • What can I turn over at the DEA Take Back event?

    • All solid dosage pharmaceutical products in consumer containers can be accepted.
  • Can I turn over illicit drugs?
    • No. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not part of this initiative and will not be accepted.
  • Will you accept needles for disposal?
    • No. Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted at this event.
  • Do I need to take the medication out of its original container?
    • No. You may dispose of your medication in the original container if you choose, but you are encouraged to remove any identifying information from the label if applicable.
  • Do you collect information on individuals disposing of medications?
    • No. This program is anonymous, and all efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made.
