THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township celebrated the opening of its sixth sprayground on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Bear Branch Sprayground features bears, trees, logs and an eagle among its many water spray highlights. Even the cold weather that day could not keep the children and adults who attended from running through the colorful and imaginative new water playground.

"On behalf of The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, I extend my deepest gratitude to all who have contributed to the realization of this project. This is part of the revitalization of Bear Branch Park, with much more to come, including a trail connector, an inclusive playground addition, and batting cages! Memories will be made here, laughter will echo and friendships will blossom for generations to come,” said Township Chairman Dr. Ann K. Snyder. “Now, let the splashing begin,” she said, as Township staff, directors and friends joined her at the ribbon-cutting.

Water playgrounds, also known as spraygrounds, provide great opportunities for outdoor family fun. No matter how hot it gets, people of all ages can enjoy splashing in these water amenities. The six spraygrounds, now including this newest one, are managed by The Woodlands Township, and opened daily for the 2024 season, starting March 1 through October 31, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All the spraygrounds in The Woodlands feature whimsical designs and are sure to capture the creativity of young children at play. Best of all, they are conveniently located close to rentable pavilions or seating areas in their respective parks.

Water in the spraygrounds is recirculated, making it more environmentally sound. The spraygrounds, also called splash pads, are designed so that standing water does not collect, which reduces risk of drowning, making them perfect for children of all ages. All Township spraygrounds utilize sanitized, chemically treated water that is tested and monitored daily. The Township spraygrounds are located at:
