CONROE, TX -- At their meeting Thursday night, the Lake Travis ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Curtis Null as the lone finalist in their superintendent search.

Dr. Null has served as superintendent since 2018 with a total of 23 years in Conroe ISD and was recognized as one of the Houston Business Journal's Most Admired CEOs in 2024. During his tenure at the helm of the 7th largest district in the State of Texas, he compassionately and boldly led the 73,000-student and 12,000-employee Conroe ISD Family through challenges such as the pandemic, hurricanes, winter storms, social unrest, and two successful bond referendums totaling $2.6 billion.

“Conroe ISD will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve here. I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our students, teachers, and staff each and every day. I have worked with amazing people that have helped me learn and grow daily, and I know the friendships I have made here will last a lifetime,” Null stated. "I am proud that our team has navigated the tremendous financial challenges tied to school district funding and made great strides towards a healthy fund balance that will enable the District to provide future compensation increases the Conroe ISD employees deserve while continuing to provide world class opportunities for students."

Under Dr. Null’s leadership, Conroe ISD continued to receive the highest recognition for transparency from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. In 2021, Conroe ISD was named a Top Workplace by the Houston Chronicle. Forbes named Conroe ISD as one of America’s Best-in-State Employers for Texas in 2022, 2023, and 2024. In 2024, Conroe ISD ranked 37th among America’s Best Large Employers and 62nd among America's Best Employers for Women by Forbes. In 2025, Conroe ISD was named 69th among America’s Best Large Employers. The District was the highest-ranked K-12 school system on each list.

Beyond his role as superintendent, Dr. Null actively contributed to various educational and civic boards and committees. He began his career in Conroe ISD in 2000 and served as a teacher, athletic trainer, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent prior to becoming superintendent.
