THE WOODLANDS, TX – After a thrilling win over the Willis Wildkats last week, the College Park Cavaliers will return to Woodforest Bank Stadium this Thursday to face the Caney Creek Panthers. Caney Creek earned their first win of the season last week, defeating Cleveland 36-8. Unfortunately for them, College Park has been on a roll recently, and the Panthers might just be another stepping stone before the Cavaliers' big matchup against The Woodlands next week.

An unstoppable force meets a moveable object, as undefeated College Park looks to blow through 1-4 Caney Creek

College Park Cavaliers: The New Team to Beat

It has been a fantastic season for College Park so far. Over the last 6 weeks, the Cavaliers have yet to lose a game, dominating opponents and proving why they are the real deal this year. Last week revealed a new aspect of the College Park offense: the running game. Previously, College Park was a team that won through the air, with multiple receivers scoring over 2 touchdowns in 5 games. However, that game was all about the run, with RBs Kaylen Stephens and Antonio Booker balling out and each scoring a touchdown on the ground. Stephens surpassed 300 rushing yards after the game, while Booker saw his rushing total climb to 246 yards. Both players also contributed in the passing game, as screens to them were College Park’s go-to plays when they needed yardage. QB Camden Hughes had another excellent performance, and although he threw his second interception, which resulted in a pick-6, he cleaned it up in the second half and was unstoppable for the rest of the night. Marco Beltran and the defense looked just as strong as the offense, recording multiple sacks and two turnovers. Beltran also had an impressive kick return, demonstrating why he is a special teams threat. All in all, College Park is a very good team this year, and unfortunately for their opponents, this likely won’t be much of a contest. Expect a defense hungry for more turnovers and an offense to score more points than ever. They might even have another 50+ point game, and if they do, it will be the fifth time this season they reach that mark. They will be looking for another win to stack on before challenging The Woodlands next week.

Caney Creek Panthers: Riding High Off a Win

While not quite on the same scale as some other games last week, Caney Creek faced a struggling Cleveland and won 36-8 to earn their first victory of the season. This is a big milestone for the Panthers, as they finally get that pesky zero off their record and have something to show for this season. Unfortunately for them, that high might come crashing down against the tough College Park team. Although they did win last week, their defense remains poor, as the previous game was the only time a team did not score 48+ points on them. The offense literally quintupled their season total in this game, having scored only 7 points before the Cleveland match. Overall, there's not much more to say about this team. It’s great they won last week, and they should be proud of that, but this week will likely be a tough challenge.

Final Thoughts:

This won’t be much of a game, and there's not much more to say. College Park’s offense should have no trouble scoring, and the defense is expected to dominate on all fronts. Caney Creek, while occasionally scrappy, simply isn’t at the same level as College Park right now. The only interesting question in this game is how many points College Park will score and how long the backups will get to play.
