THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department has announced that it is bringing a new addition to The Woodlands holiday ceremonies – Holiday on the Waterway. This dazzling display of Christmas lights transforms The Woodlands Waterway into a festive wonderland.

This new winter wonderland run run Nov. 22 - Jan. 4

Spanning a mile and a half – from Waterway Square to Grogan’s Mill Road – this free and interactive display will feature more than one million twinkling lights, creating the perfect backdrop for family photos and treasured memories.

Visitors to the display will be able to marvel at illuminated bows and larger-than-life Christmas presents; they can walk or ride a trolley through magical light-filled tunnels on the north side of The Waterway and admire sparkling snowflakes, glowing icicles, and whimsical deer and trees lit up along The Waterway. Smaller illuminated decorations will add to the festive atmosphere with built-in speakers playing cheerful holiday music.

There are ways you can plan ahead for your holiday stroll; paid and free public parking will be available at several Township-owned garages, lots, and streets. And the free Town Center Trolley is a convenient way to see all the lights. Additionally, you will be invited to participate in the Trolley Scavenger Hunt for the chance to win a special prize.

If you want to make a full night of it, or if you have family coming in from out of town, there are several upscale hotels throughout the area to stay in and leave the car behind. Nearby will also be the Ice Rink, where you can reserve your time on the ice, then lace up your skates and get ready to glide, spin, and laugh with family and friends. You will also be able to set out from the Riva Row Boat House for a magical swan boat ride and take in the Holiday on the Waterway light cavalcade from the water.

Light refreshments and treats will be available for purchase on select days and times at the South Place between the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and the Waterway. Adventure seekers can also remain on the trolley to hit several special holiday-themed attractions along its route, such as Hughes Landing, Market Street, The Woodlands Mall, Town Green Park, and more.
