The Woodlands Township Announces Christmas Tree Recycling and Disposal Options
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- As the holiday season comes to an end and residents begin taking down their decorations, The Woodlands Township reminds the community of proper options for Christmas tree recycling and disposal.
Green (unflocked) Christmas trees that are free of all decorations, lights, and bases may be placed at the curb on residents’ regular service day for collection by the yard trimmings truck. Trees taller than six feet must be cut down to six feet or less prior to collection.
Residents may also drop off green, unflocked Christmas trees at the tree corral located at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park, 6464 Creekside Forest Drive, from Friday, December 26, 2025, through Sunday, January 11, 2026. Trees collected at this location will be chipped and reused as flooring material beneath the Texas TreeVentures aerial obstacle course, supporting sustainability efforts within the community.
Flocked Christmas trees, which are coated with plastic fibers, cannot be recycled and must be disposed of in a landfill. To arrange bulk pickup of flocked trees or broken artificial trees, residents should visit wm.com or contact Waste Management at 800-800-5804 at least two business days prior to their regular service day.
For additional details regarding holiday décor and Christmas tree disposal guidelines, residents are encouraged to visit the Township’s website.
