For a 60-month loan with nothing down, at 1.99 percent your monthly payment would be about $875, and you’ll end up paying an additional $2,450 in interest. For the same loan at the national average of 6.5 percent, your monthly payment would be $978 and the total interest paid would be nearly four times as before: about $8,700.
