Applications are open through May 7 for current college undergraduates pursuing technology majors

Administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest manager of scholarships and educational support programs, the Power Your Future Scholarship is part of Entergy Corporation’s broader initiative, The Power of Prosperity. This initiative is designed to provide students and their families with free access to financial resources that foster the success of HBCU students and promote generational wealth.

In Texas, the program includes:

  • Ten $5,000 scholarships for students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in computer science, cyber security, IT, AI or related fields at Prairie View A&M University, University of Houston, Sam Houston State University and Texas Southern University.
  • Twenty $2,500 scholarships for students pursuing associate degrees in process technology at Lamar Institute of Technology and Lamar State College – Port Arthur.

As part of this commitment, Entergy has pledged $20 million over 10 years to elevate and empower HBCUs and their students across its service area in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. These funds will support enhanced education, career readiness and workforce development programs at HBCUs.

“Across Southeast Texas, we’re seeing rapid growth in industries that depend on a skilled, technology-driven workforce,” said Scott Hutchinson, vice president of public affairs for Entergy Texas. “By supporting students at HBCUs and minority-serving institutions, we’re helping create opportunities that will strengthen our region for generations to come.”

Interested students must submit their applications by the May 7th deadline. The application process includes submitting required materials as specified by Scholarship America.
