Library Events in The Woodlands – August 10 - 15, 2026
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands enjoys two amazing libraries within the Township borders – the George & Cynthia Mitchell Library located at 8125 Ashlane Way, and the Kevin Brady Library located at 2250 Buckthorne Place – that are open Mondays - Thursdays 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Fridays - Saturdays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (closed Sundays).
Beyond having tons of books to check out, these libraries also offer computer / internet services, reference and research services, movie check-outs, classes, workshops, activities, and more. Woodlands Online presents this weekly summary of what each week has in store.
All library events, programs, and classes are free and open to the public. If any individual requires an accommodation to participate in the library events, programs, or classes, please contact the host library location at least three days before the program or event. Some events require registration. Classes and events with full already-full registrations are not included in this list. Events are subject to change without notice.

Monday, August 10
Playdate at the Library
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
We’re excited to offer a special time for kids 0-5 and their caregivers to engage in social playtime and interactions. Entrance is first-come, first-serve, until the room or program is at capacity. Children must be supervised by an adult. Food is not allowed in the program; please save your snacks for afterwards. Events are subject to change without notice.
Teen Escape Room
5:300 - 7:00 p.m.
Teens 12-18 team up to solve the puzzles and ‘Escape the Camp’ before it’s too late. Prizes for the winning team. All supplies and snacks provided. Registration is full and closed for this event.
Tuesday, August 11
Family Storytime
9:30 - 10:00 a.m., 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
This story program is for children (ages 3 - 5) and a caregiver with an emphasis on stories and activities for preschoolers. This program emphasizes early literacy skills and is a great way to meet other families with young children. Entrance is first-come, first-serve, until the room or program is at capacity. Space is limited; please limit the number of adults in your group to allow more children into the program. Please attend one storytime each week to allow more children into the program. Children must be supervised by an adult. Food is not allowed in the program; please save your snacks for afterwards.
Google Docs
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
In this beginner-friendly class, we will demonstrate creating, editing, and formatting documents in Google Docs. You will learn the skills needed to create your own forms, resumes, and more. Crafternoons for Adults
1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
If you’ve got hundreds of pins on Pinterest, but just can't get started, Crafternoons is for you. Each month will feature a free craft that registered adults 18 and up can create. No advanced skills are needed; crafts are self-directed with provided instructions. This month’s craft is DIY Paper Basket Weaving. Sponsored by South Montgomery County Friends of the Library. Registration is full and closed for this event.

LEGO Club

Join us for free play, fun, and creativity as we build with LEGO. The Library provides LEGO. This program is geared toward ages 5 to 12 years old. Pre-registration is not required. Tickets are available at the Children’s Desk 15 minutes before the start of the program. Space is limited. First come, first served.
Teen: SAT Bootcamp
6:00 - 7:30 p.m., Computer Lab Room 214

Teen Practice SAT Exam
9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
The Mitchell Library partners with The Woodlands Test Prep to offer free practice exams, simulating the testing environment, to local teens, ages 14 - 18. The Woodlands Test Prep evaluates results to offer insight into areas of the exam that students should focus on improving. Family Game Room
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Welcome to the Mitchell Family Game Room. Our Large Meeting Room will be set up for some fun, family game time. Children 12 and under must be with a parent or adult at all times while in the library.

Family Storytime
9:15 - 9:45 a.m.; 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Join us for songs, stories, and more at the Brady Library Family Storytime. This program is geared toward children five and under with their caregivers. Prepare your child for storytime by explaining how to be a good audience member (i.e. sitting or standing still, listening to the storyteller, speaking quietly, and being kind to others). If your child becomes restless or upset during storytime, please step out of the room for a break, then quietly return when your child is ready. Small children may stand instead of sit, but should not run or climb during storytime. Keep casual conversations to a minimum, and place cell phones on silent mode. To avoid distracting other children, please refrain from bringing toys to storytime. Food is not permitted in Kevin Brady Library.
Mandarin Mah Jongg (Intermediate Level)
12:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Join us for Intermediate Mandarin Mah Jongg. This program is designed for players who already know the basic rules and tile sets. In this session, you’ll get further practice on how to build special hands, explore more strategies, and practice through fun, interactive play. Registration is required. Teen Manga Meet Up
5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
We will be reading Spy x Family: Family Portrait, by Aya Yajima, the series originally created by Tatsuya Endo. This will be our first light novel, which is an original short story separate from the manga, anime, and movie. Please join us in discussion of the book with a craft or activity, a fun quiz, and prizes. Parents and guardians are asked to drop off their teens or wait elsewhere in the library during the program.
