Summary: The Early Childhood Ministry Lead supports the development of a dynamic ministry for children ages three through kindergarten. In collaboration with the Next Gen Kids Lead Shepherd and in alignment with The Woodlands Methodist Church’s (TWMC) mission to win people to Jesus Christ, disciple them in faith, and help those in need.

Essential Functions:

• Provide essential support for the overall function of the early childhood ministry, age three through kindergarten.
• Support creating a culture where volunteers love to serve by assisting the Lead Shepherd and volunteers in conducting their mission and programs.
• Oversee administrative and operational needs of the early childhood ministry, freeing the Lead Shepherd to provide pastoral leadership and care for volunteers and children.
• Collaborate with the leaders and volunteers in conducting the mission, goals, and values of Next Gen Ministries and The Woodlands Methodist Church (TWMC).
• Support the Lead Shepherd and the Next Gen Ministry team in developing a unified approach to children’s ministry.
• Collaborate with the Special Blessings team to support families of kids with special needs.
• Provide guidance to interns on Sunday mornings.
• Attend Next Gen Ministry staff meetings, church staff meetings, and other meetings deemed appropriate by the Shepherd Director or Lead Shepherd.
• Collaborate with the Lead Shepherd to develop and implement an ongoing and effective orientation, placement, and assimilation process for volunteers, based on agreed upon protocols and workflows.
• Maintain, and ensure execution of, agreed upon policies, procedures, and standards that ensure the health, safety, and security of children and volunteers. Help ensure all early childhood volunteers are confident in their role in an emergency response.
• Provide administrative support to the Lead Shepherd.
• Serve as a service lead on Sundays, supporting leaders and volunteers as needed.
• Maintain systems for set-up and clean-up.
• Be present to problem solve or resolve issues that arise during the service (supply needs, tech issues, management needs, behavioral support, etc.).
• Organize lesson supplies, edit curriculum, and update databases.
• Maintain up-to-date and well-organized files for the early childhood ministry.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Shepherd Director or the Lead Shepherd.

• Reports to: Next Gen Kids Lead Shepherd
• Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Schedule: As is typical for ministry this position requires a flexible schedule. It includes agreed upon onsite office hours, Sunday services and meetings.
• Compensation: Dependent on experience

• Strong relational skills, with the ability to successfully recruit people to serve children.
• Excellent communication [written and oral], skills for work with staff, parents, volunteers, and the children.
• Ability to lead people and provide them with encouragement, guidance, feedback, and follow-up – to coach, train, and motivate volunteers.
• Ability to work well independently, consistent with biblical truths and church policy.
• Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
• Computer and tech literacy: Basic competence with Microsoft Office, CMS, presentation software, website, and social media, and willing and able to be trained further.

• This position requires sitting, standing, lifting, reaching, and crawling.
