Development Company Sells Country Club and Golf Courses

The Woodlands, TX -- On Friday, April 20, The Woodlands Development Company announced it had signed contracts to sell The Woodlands Country Club, and the Oaks and Panther Trail public golf courses to Sequoia/Canongate Golf LLC of Atlanta.

The deal includes the golf courses ( the Palmer, East, Players courses), clubhouses, maintenance facilities, the Golf Hall of Fame building, golf pro shop, locker rooms, Spartilo (restaurant), and tennis facilities at The Woodlands County Club. The deal is expected to close by mid June.

Sequioa/Canongate has 18 golf courses in the Atlanta area and is expanding to the Greater Houston area, with The Woodlands to be the company's flagship courses for the Houston region.

Current Memberships will be transferred to Sequoia/Canongate, with no initiation fees required by members.

Current staff is expected to remain, with the exception of Bill Langley, managing director of The Clubs of The Woodlands, and Mark Zientek, the clubhouse manager of The Woodlands Country Club.
