The event will take place Saturday, December 1, 11-2pm at the South County Community Center located at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. Barbecue meal plates will include: brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad and a beverage. Pre-orders are available and the minimum suggested donation is $10 is being requested though donations for greater than this are appreciated.

"I invite the community to come out and support us for this event," Gable said. "This is a very worthwhile cause and 100 percent of the proceeds raised will go to our veterans."

The Texas Honor Ride is a 501c3 nonprofit charity whose mission is to honor, directly help and improve the quality of life of wounded warriors and their families who are recovering at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the component command over the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) and other U.S. Army medical treatment facilities in the San Antonio area. SAMMC is the largest medical center in the Department of Defense.

For more than seven years, The Texas Honor Ride has raised more than $900,000 for wounded troops and their families.

"All funds raised go to the Warrior and Family Support Center," Butch Blackmon said, vice president for the charity. "Our organization is 100 percent volunteer and no monies go to administration fees or such. One hundred percent of the funds raised go directly to our charity and any cost incurred we pay for out of our own pockets."

The Texas Honor Ride has won the attention and favor of many high profile donors, namely T. Boone Pickens, businessman and financier, who after hearing the story of Army Sergeant Jason March donated $100,000 to the cause. Sgt. March who was shot while serving in Iraq has incurred more than 70 surgeries to date.

"We look forward to seeing everyone at this event and we are asking for your support in caring for our wounded veterans," Gable said.
