Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. commemorative events Jan 18

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - The life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will be celebrated throughout the county, Monday, January 18, with a couple of events. At noon a celebration of his life will take place at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. The event will be presided over by Senior Pastor Roche Coleman with Impact Church of The Woodlands.

Joseph McKinney, Minister of Music, Stonebridge Church
Michael Pickett, Minister of Music, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church
Kisa Holmes, Music Director, Impact Church of The Woodlands
Sharonda Whorton, Children's Music Director, Impact Church of The Woodlands

A children’s choir, comprised of representatives from the above mentioned churches, will perform at the event.

The Woodlands United Methodist Church is located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, west of the business district.

A fundraiser luncheon will follow immediately at the Children’s Books on Wheels Multipurpose Building located at 9845 Sleepy Hollow Road, Conroe, TX, (77385), east of Oak Ridge North. Hosted by Rita Wiltz, the founder and director of Children’s Books on Wheels (CBOW), the $10 a plate lunch fundraiser will benefit both CBOW and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Fund.
