'Hats Off to Literacy' Brunch and Hat Fashion Show

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Fashionable, stylish and chic hats are part of the fun at the "Hats Off to Literacy" Brunch and Hat Fashion Show, presented by Interfaith of The Woodlands. Come enjoy the Brunch and Fashion Show on Saturday, November 9 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Interfaith of The Woodlands, located at 4242 Interfaith Way in The Woodlands.

This special fundraiser benefits Children’s Books on Wheels, a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote literacy. The event will raise funds for the new home of Children’s Books on Wheels, the Sleepy Hollow Multi-Purpose building. Proceeds from this event will also be donated to Children's Books on Wheels "Seed to Read" literacy projects. “Seed to Read” is an afterschool literacy project curriculum to support Pre-K to 12th grade students.

With fancy hats making you look glamorous, you can’t forget the eyes. Stylish Hair by Stacey with Uptown Salon will also feature an eyelash bar with special pricing donation to benefit Children’s Books on Wheels.

Dr. Ann Snyder, CEO and President of Interfaith, will be the Honorary Chair for this event. Valerie Vogt will be the empowering Keynote Speaker.

Highlights for the event include a sit-down luncheon accompanied by a hat fashion show. Hats are being provided by “Divas of God”. Community leaders and guest personalities will step up to model hats including Bruce Tough, Chairman of the Board, The Woodlands Township; Gerald D. Irons, Sr., former NFL player with the Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders and Vice President of Business Development for The Woodlands Development Company; Miguel Lopez, dancer for the Dancing with The Woodlands Stars; community personality Kerrie Chaney; community leader Helen Thornton; Missy Herndon, Programs and Services Director with Interfaith and “Scene in The Woodlands” Columnist for "The Woodlands Lifestyles & Homes", and more.

“In addition, there will be a hat vendor with fabulous hats. If you love hats, this is the hat parade event of the season. Hats can be purchased after the fashion show,” said Rita Wiltz, Executive Director/Founder of Children’s Books on Wheels. “'The Hats off to Literacy' Brunch and Hat Fashion Show will be an exciting event that you won’t want to miss.”

Children’s Books on Wheels is a 501 (c)3 non-profit mobile literacy organization. Children’s Books on Wheels provides a variety of free books, learning materials and teen programs for children in need, residing in Montgomery and Walker counties. The organization assists with referral and resources for the Texas Health and Human Services Association applications, brochures for CHIP Children’s Medicaid, CHIP Perinatal, Food Stamps, and Texas Women’s Program. The organization also provides the literacy component for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education, Domestic and Teen Dating Violence workshops, HIV/AIDS outreach, free tax preparation for families in Montgomery County in English and Spanish along with volunteer services for other non-profit organizations.
