Legacy Prep's Avery Jones signs Letter of Intent

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy (Legacy Prep) senior, Avery Jones, signed a letter of intent with Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi earlier this week. Jones is set to graduate on May 20, 2016 from Legacy Prep and will be playing basketball for Millsaps College in the fall.

Legacy Prep is a University-Model School (UMS) in The Woodlands, Texas comprised of grades pre-kindergarten through 12th. The school prepares students to be successful in college and life by providing a rigorous academic background that is rich in opportunities. Legacy Prep is a Christ-centered school that creates college-worthy, character witnesses for Christ.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the Millsaps Majors basketball team. I am also excited to see what plans God will reveal to me over the next four years as I attend college,” stated Avery Jones. Jones attended Legacy Prep for the past two years and was active in basketball, cheerleading, and track and field. She won first team all-district and second team all-state. The Legacy Prep girls varsity team advanced to the second round of the TAPPS 1A regional playoffs this season.

Coach Audra May, said, “Avery Jones has been a delight to coach. She has worked hard and that has landed her a spot at Millsaps College. I hope to be able to watch her play next year and know she will continue to be successful.” According to Derrick Jones, Avery’s father, “At Legacy Prep, Avery got the attention and tools she needed to gain confidence and improve her basketball skills. This led to her earning numerous district and state awards and ultimately being recruited to play basketball in college. We couldn’t be more proud of her.”
