THE WOODLANDS, TX-- Coming off a 250-yard, three touchdown game and a spot as our Athlete of the Week, Conroe’s Donaven Lloyd is ready to lead the Tigers to their second straight victory over #4 The Woodlands.

Not an easy task for the 1-5 Tigers. The Highlanders have scored at least 35 points in each game since their opening day loss to the top-ranked team in Texas, the Katy Tigers. Even with starting quarterback Quinn Binney out with injury, Quinton Johnson has led the Highlanders to three straight victories, also ending West Brook and Oak Ridge’s perfect seasons along the way.

While the Highlanders have gone on their run of success, the same cannot be said for the Tigers, winning their first game just a week ago to 1-6 College Park. The bright spot for this Conroe team has been Army recruit Donaven Lloyd. A first team all-district selection a year ago, Lloyd has been the go-to target for Head Coach Robert Walker’s offense. The Tigers plan to give Lloyd the ball in numerous ways, whether it be on the ground or through the air.

The Tigers’ offense will be set up against Jackson Shearer and the Highlander defense. The Woodlands defense has been phenomenal this year. Led by captain Shearer, the Highlanders have talent at every position on the defensive side of the ball, not letting up more than 21 points in a game all season with one of the toughest schedules in the area.

With the state playoffs quickly approaching, the Highlanders sit comfortably at the number one seed in District 12-6A. The Tigers are on the outside looking in, and with a tough opponent like The Woodlands, Conroe will need to be firing on all cylinders to take down the Texas state powerhouse.

Kick-off is this Friday night 7:30 p.m at Woodforest Bank Stadium. This On-Demand game will be presented by Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and Replays are sponsored Re/Max The Woodlands & Spring
