THE WOODLANDS, Texas— After a 7-3 regular season, The Woodlands Highlanders found themselves in the playoffs for the 22nd consecutive year. The Highlanders were pinned up against Aldine Davis for the first round of the state playoffs. Jim Rapp gets his first playoff victory as head coach with a 66-7 win over the Falcons.

An eventful first half saw the Highlanders put up seven touchdowns. Beginning with a Falcon three-and-out on their first possession, Highlander running back Bryeton Gilford opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run. Not to be outdone, the Falcons returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, evening up the score at seven. Casey Sunseri also got into the action with his 33-yard scamper for The Woodlands’ second score of the night. The next kickoff return for Davis would not go as smoothly as the first, fumbling and giving the ball back to the Highlanders. Senior Chase Taylor would score on the very next play. With time winding down in the first quarter, Defensive captain Sean Stavinoha joined the touchdown party with a 3-yard touchdown grab from Ben Mills.

The highlights for Davis would halt after the run back as the Highlanders put together 59 unanswered points.

The Woodlands will advance to the second round of the playoffs taking place next week, the opponent is to be determined.
