THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Township continues to lead the Houston region in transit technology. Building on the recent successful release of its mobile ticketing app, The Woodlands Township has released a “Next Bus” tracking app for The Woodlands Express commuter bus service. Designed in partnership with transit technology firm Ride Systems, the app provides real-time information for passengers, including GPS-tracked bus location, estimated arrival times, stop information, notifications and more. Both new apps are the first of their kind in the region.

Township officials say they are continuously working to improve passenger experience, seeking innovative ways to make commuting as comfortable as possible.

“We’re very proud to be leading the way in transit innovation for our commuters,” said Township Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch. “Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our passengers.”

By providing the real-time information, Township transit officials are hoping to make commuting in the Houston region less stressful. “Knowing that your bus is just two blocks away will help prevent passengers from having to endure some of Houston’s infamous heat and rain,” Mr. Bunch said.

The Ride Systems app is free to download and available for IOS and Android in the App Store or on Google Play. For passengers already using the mobile ticketing app, the bus tracking feature is available in the latest update under “Trip Tools.”
