The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held its regular meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard in The Woodlands, Texas.

In recognition of National Police Week 2019 and to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers serving in communities across the United States, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors proclaimed the week of May 11, 2019 as Police Week in The Woodlands, Texas. Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson read the proclamation.

In support of the monarch butterfly population and to help restore habitat for the monarch and encourage citizens to do the same, the Board of Directors proclaimed April 24, 2019 as Monarch Butterfly Day in The Woodlands, Texas.

To promote The Woodlands Bike-Friendly Community designation and increase public awareness for bicycling during National Bike Month, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors proclaimed May 17, 2019 as Bike To Work Day and May 18, 2019 as Bike The Woodlands Day in The Woodlands, Texas.

The Board of Directors accepted reports from Village Association representatives from the villages of Alden Bridge and Grogan’s Mill.
The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

Approved an amendment to the Montgomery County Hospital District Housing Interlocal Agreement.
Approved an Interlocal Construction Access Agreement with the San Jacinto River Authority.
The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

Received the Administrative Report for The Woodlands Fire Department in which Chairman Gordy Bunch announced the retirement of Fire Chief Alan B. Benson. After more than 14 years of service to The Woodlands Township, Chief Benson has announced his intention to retire on May 2, 2019. His leadership for The Woodlands has been extraordinary and he will be greatly missed by the organization and the community.
Received and accepted quarterly updates on Law Enforcement from Harris County Constable Precinct 4, Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3 and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Received and accepted a briefing from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on traffic accidents at the intersection of Crownridge Drive and Research Forest Drive.
Received and accepted a report from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on suicide prevention measures and initiatives concerning mental health.
Received and accepted a quarterly update from the Development Standards Committee.
Received and approved a request for video improvements from the Development Standards Committee (DSC).
Received and accepted a quarterly update from the Drainage Task Force.
Received and accepted a quarterly update from Visit The Woodlands (Convention & Visitors Bureau).
Received and accepted the financial report.
