New Lanes Set to Open on Birnham Woods Drive

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On Monday, crews will begin opening the new northbound lanes on Birnham Woods Drive from just south of Legends Run Drive to just north of Elan Boulevard, weather permitting, providing two lanes in each direction along that stretch.

Two-way traffic will be temporarily shifted to the new northbound lanes as striping is redone on the two existing lanes and speed limit signs are updated to reflect the 35 MPH speed limit along that stretch. Once striping is completed, all lanes will open.

In addition, the traffic signals at the Birnham Woods-Elan and Birnham Woods-Legends Run intersections are scheduled to be turned on Monday morning and will be flashing red at first as drivers get accustomed to the new signals.

Once all lanes are open, final median work will be completed south of Legends Run at the previous transition point where lanes narrowed from four lanes to two lanes.
