The Woodlands High School Highlander Band Places 8th Place at Bands of America Grand National Championships

THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Woodlands High School Highlander Band recently took part in the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Highlander Band takes part in the national championships once every two years. 91 bands took part in this year's competition, representing a vast portion of the United States. In the preliminary competition, the Highlander band achieved a score of 93.200 in the AAAA Class. This score placed them in seventh place overall, and allowed them to move on to the semi-finals.

Out of the 91 bands in the competition, only 38 moved on to the semi-finals. The Highlander band once again supplied a solid performance, earning them a 93.125 score, remaining in seventh place overall. Their excellent score allowed them to advance to the finals competition.

The finals competition included 12 bands, representing Ohio, Texas, California, Indiana and Oklahoma. Out the final 12, the Highlander Band was one of six bands from Texas in the finals competition. Giving it their all, the band scored 91.200, placing them in 8th place overall, out of 91 bands in the competition.

Through hard work and dedication, the Highlander Band placed, once again, in the Top 10 bands in the nation.
