HS Volleyball Scoreboard: Cooper takes down Conroe in a 5-set battle

Wednesday night’s game at John Cooper School showcased two volleyball teams that refused to give up. Long rallies and clutch comebacks were the themes of every set in the thrilling match between the Dragons and Tigers.

Conroe jumped out an early lead, but Cooper responded well and what looked to be a runaway Set 1 win for Conroe, turned into back-and-forth competition. The Tigers managed to still come away with the 25-21 win with Shelby Adams providing the winning point.

Cooper took Set 2 to level the score at one set apiece, in large part to the play of Tatum Threadgill. The Dragons were able to withstand a strong push by Conroe late in the set, and a well-timed ace from Threadgill helped Cooper secure the 25-16 victory.

After back-to-back aces from Rivers Kolesar, Cooper seemed to be on their way to taking a 2-1 lead in the match. However, Conroe stunningly fought off multiple set points to steal the set from the Dragons with a 26-24 win. Cooper wouldn’t make the same mistake twice and denied another late charge from Conroe, winning an intense set-point rally to win 25-22 and force a fifth set.

Cooper trailed 12-6 in the Set 5 but dug deep to pull off an 18-16 win, their second win in back-to-back nights.
