THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Dragon Boys Soccer Remains Undefeated, Girls Soccer and Basketball Add Wins. Results from the week of November 16, 2020.

VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER

11/16 at Northland Christian • 5-0 W

Coach Amber Clevenger: Monday’s 5-0 win against Northland Christian was yet another chance for several players to showcase their talents and get some time on the field. It was nice to see everyone contribute to the game.

Goals: Kaitlin Hinch (2), AJ Guslsingam (1), Maddie Van Odell (1) and Elaine Van der Donckt (1). Assist: Tamsin Prudencio (2), Anna Martinez (1), Kaitlin Hinch (1), Kat (1).

11/17 vs. Bay Area Christian • 5-0 W

Coach Amber Clevenger: Tuesday’s 5-0 win against Bay Area Christian was a much more rewarding win in my mind. Again, several players contributed to this win, but it was a tougher opponent and I was able to see the team build upon the things we needed to work on from the previous games. Kaitlin Hinch has truly blown me away this season, she stands out as a player to watch. It is very obvious to me that Hinch put in time over the long break we had. Maddie Van Odell came up huge for us tonight putting in three goals for her very first “hat trick.”

Goals: Maddie Van Odell (3), Kat Staebel (2). Assist: Kaitlin Hinch (2), Gretchen Godwin (1), Kat Staebel (1) and Chloe Smith (1).

11/20-21 at Lutheran South Tournament
vs. Concordia Lutheran • 3-0 L
vs. Bay Area Christian • 5-0 W
vs. HCYA • 3-1 L

Coach Amber Clevenger: The Lutheran South tournament was a great way for the team to get more game exposure before the Thanksgiving break. Needless to say, it was a tough tournament, but we were playing without three key players who were out due to injury. It’s always important for players to be able to step into different roles and find ways to produce and we truly just struggled to do that in our first and last game. Although we had two freshmen players, Haley Lien and Sharlenn Meixeiro step up and perform well, which is always rewarding. Other players who performed well this weekend were Peyton Lien, Emma Grosser and Gretchen Godwin who all three were integral parts of our defense.

Lastly, Mikaela Camarata has been the epicenter of our team with two goals two assists, Mikaela takes all of our free kicks and corner kicks and I’ve never coached a player that can place the ball as well as she does.

VARSITY BOYS SOCCER
11/18 at Lutheran South • 4-1 W
Goals by Miles Miller, Will Young, Tanure Ewherido, Michael Black

Coach Bryan Sherman: The team has started the season well, winning our first three matches. We are pleased with the progress of the group thus far, but we know that things will get more difficult after the holiday breaks. Hopefully we can continue to build off this momentum and improve daily. If that happens, there is a lot of promise for the outcome of our season.

11/19 at St. Pius X • 51-50 W

Coach BJ Feuerhelm: What a week! This team went on the road for two extremely hard-fought wins against two of the top TAAPS teams in Houston. I’m really proud of the girls’ effort and toughness over the first few weeks of this season. To be 3-1 to start is a good place to be. We are all excited for a break and will be ready to come back and get to work in December.
