SPRING, TX -- The District 13-6A champion Oak Ridge War Eagles came into the playoffs on an eight-game winning streak. After Thursday night, it’s now nine games as The Ridge took down Aldine Davis 52-17. The 35-point win gives the War Eagles a bi-district round victory for the third-straight season.

Oak Ridge still looked to be in form after more than a week off since their last game. The War Eagles quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead thanks to a Malade Hollis layup and a three-ball from Kylie Weeks. If it wasn’t obvious enough that Oak Ridge was ready to play, Nikki Petrakovitz putting her defender on a mixtape with a nice jumper made it clear that the War Eagles were locked in. Defensively, Oak Ridge was just as aggressive, as they held the Falcons to just three points in the opening quarter.

By the midway point in the second quarter, Oak Ridge was up 20 after a Jena Clark fastbreak layup. Strong defense allowed the War Eagles to get out on the break quite a bit in this game. Another fast break score by Taylor Jones sent Oak Ridge into the locker room with a 26-point lead.

The large lead in the second half allowed Oak Ridge to share the minutes with everyone and they still had solid production on both ends of the floor. Kelly Weckesser put the War Eagles up 35 with a mid-range jumper late in the third and Oak Ridge would take that lead to the finish line. Raniyah Lewis’ chase-down block in the final seconds of the game put the final touches on a dominant round one victory.

Petrakovitz was the leading scorer with 10 points, followed by nine from Weeks, and eight from Jones. Oak Ridge (24-3 overall) awaits the winner of Cypress Springs and former district member, Klein Collins.
