College Park 3, Oak Ridge 0

The Cavaliers picked up their fourth-straight win on Friday night. A goal from Kendall Cagney and two more from Ashley Washburn helped College Park put together a dominant performance.

It only took five minutes for CP to find the back of the net. A well-placed pass from Taylor Molina set up Cagney right on Oak Ridge’s doorstep. The initial shot was stopped, but Cagney went upper 90 with the rebound shot to open the scoring.

Less than 10 minutes later, Washburn scored her first to give the Cavs a two-goal advantage. Washburn made a great run, then beat the keeper at the near post to put College Park in full control.

The Cavaliers did their damage early as the lead grew to 3-0 in less than 30 minutes. Washburn bagged a brace, beating her defender in a 1v1 and placing a low shot in the net. Three first-half goals were enough to put the War Eagles away for good.

Up next for College Park is another showdown with The Woodlands next Friday.

Friday night was a massive win for the Cavaliers as they close in on the playoffs. AJ Vera and Gabryl Marquez helped College Park split the season series with the War Eagles.

Just as the CP girls did earlier in the day, College Park went in front in the game’s opening minutes. Oak Ridge conceded a penalty and AJ Vera blasted the PK into the net for the 1-0 lead.

The War Eagles fought back, and 16 minutes into the first half, Erick Evaristo leveled the game at one.

Five minutes before halftime, Gabryl Marquez hit a nice chip shot over the keeper’s outstretched arms to retake the lead.

The second half was an intense battle and Oak Ridge applied pressure to find another equalizer, but with five minutes to play, Marquez literally and figuratively rose to the occasion, scoring a great header to secure three points for the Cavs.
