THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Welcome to this week's Woodlands Online Student/Athlete of the week!

After listening to this soon to be Woodlands High School graduate, it just never ceases to amaze me how intelligent and broadminded today's younger generation is. You'll hear naysayers complain about how they are so worried for the future of our country because our young people are clueless. I always respond in kind with something like...You need to look in the mirror with that attitude and try learning just how awesome our young people are these days.

Seriously, with what I've learned about our young people, our country's future has never been in better shape. Go out there and see for yourself. I've done a thousand of these profiles over the years and every single subject has been an absolute rock-star. I know what you're thinking...'Well. he probably goes out and hand picks these kids whom he knows will make a good story.' WRONG AGAIN, OUIJA BOARD BREATH! These subjects are either picked randomly or recommended.

You can read for yourself how our latest student/athlete will be a fine representative of our community as well as our nation in the years to come.

Please meet the Co-Captain of The Woodlands High School girls' varsity soccer team, Marley Krach as in crash. (Don't you just love that name!)

1) How long have you been playing soccer? How did you become interested in soccer? What other sports
did you play growing up and why did soccer win out?

I have been playing soccer since I was four years old, the age at which I began soccer at YMCA. I took a break for a while but got back into the sport in first grade. What initially sparked my interest in the sport was my older sister, Madeline, played for Rush soccer club and her practices were at night so she got to stay up later than me. Being the night owl that I am, I wanted to stay up late, so I gave soccer a try. It was on my first-grade rec team, The Snow cones, where my love and passion for soccer flourished. Growing up, I was a sportaholic. I loved everything with competition and loved being part of a team. In junior high, I played soccer, basketball, and ran hurdles and competed in pole vault for the track team. I loved all three sports immensely, but soccer prevailed as my favorite because I knew that was the sport I wanted to continue at the collegiate
level.

2) Describe the 2021 TWHS girl's soccer team and why you enjoy playing for the Highlanders?

This 2021 TWHS girls' soccer team is special. The talent we have this year is unreal. We were fortunate enough to pick up some new and great players this year, which has really given our team the complete package. Samone Knight, who has been playing with me on the team since freshman year, and Courtney Koehler, who joined us when she was a freshman and I was a sophomore, are phenomenal players who push me to be my best every day. I am very fortunate to have such talented players to play with and hold me accountable for playing my best. In addition to amazing teammates, Coach Graves has been instrumental in the development of TWHS girls' soccer program. She knows just what to say at just the right time to get our best performances. She has helped me grow not only as a player, but as a person as well, and has taught me lessons that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my life. I enjoy playing for the Highlanders because the opportunities to compete are beyond extraordinary. We have won district all four years I have been a part of the team and just clinched a trip to the 6A State Semi-Finals, which is our deepest playoff run in a decade. Not only is this team talented, but the memories being made are ones I will keep with me forever.

3) Do you like TWHS?

I love TWHS. Personally, I am a fan of the big school because it produces insane competition that I know will help me later in life. I am very fortunate to be a part of such a well-recognized school with limitless opportunities. TWHS allows me to reach my full potential, both athletically and academically. I am currently in the top 2% of my class and constantly must work very hard to keep up. Nothing is given to you at TWHS, which teaches students how to have a good work ethic and perseverance. I believe TWHS will sufficiently prepare students for life after high school and am very thankful for my time spent as a Highlander.

4) What colleges are you looking into attending? Do you know what your field of study will be?

I will be attending Miami University this fall to continue my academics and fulfill my dreams of playing Division I soccer. I am planning on becoming either a physical therapist or pediatric physician’s assistant.

5) What do you hope to be doing after you graduate from college?

After college, I plan on becoming either a physical therapist or a physician's assistant for pediatrics. I am very passionate about these two fields and think they will be a great fit for me.

6) What do you enjoy doing away from school and soccer?

Aside from soccer and school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love anything outdoors and am always up for a game of sand volleyball or a pool day. I enjoy watching my friends play their sports and watching college or professional sports on TV. I have an addiction to lululemon, so I can be found in that store very often.

7) Who is your role model for soccer?

My role model for soccer is Julie Ertz. She is an absolute beast and I love the style she plays with. I watch her every chance I get to incorporate her style into the way I perform. Aside from soccer, she is a great person and easy to look up to - on the pitch and off.

8) Describe how supportive your family is in everything you do in your life.

My family is so supportive in everything I do, ranging from school to sports to extracurriculars. I can count on one hand the number of games my parents have missed in my life, which is crazy when you think about it. They travel nearly every week to see me play and they make sure I have the support I need. I can always count my Mom, my Dad, my two sisters, and my little brother to be at every game possible. I for sure have the largest fan base at most games, since my grandparents travel to nearly every game as well. I am very fortunate to have all my family live locally, so they can come watch me play. Knowing that my family is in the stands helps push me to be my best every game and reminds me of how lucky I am to have them.

9) If you were given a million dollars and had to give it to one charity, which one would you choose and why?

If I was given a million dollars, I would give it to the Easter Seals Foundation. I personally worked with this organization throughout my years in the National Charity League and it touched my heart. The foundation uses volunteers to spend the day with children with disabilities and their siblings to give their parents a much needed and deserved day off. I think this is so important because it shows the parents, we are there to support them and the appreciation they show is unimaginably rewarding.

10) Three things that people don't know about you.

Queso is my favorite food in the entire world. I am also obsessed with cookie cake. I could live off those two for the rest of my life and be perfectly content. I have galeophobia, an irrational fear of sharks. I think they are the worst creatures to ever exist on the earth.

I love cooking and making meals for myself and other people. I like trying new things and expanding my variety of foods.

11) When is the last time you danced? Where? You any good?

The last time I danced was last Saturday, April 3rd, at my National Charity League Senior Recognition. The last event of the night was the Father-Daughter dance. Honestly, I am very bad at dancing, but my dad loves the spotlight, so he made up for it. Together, we did quite well, and I was pleasantly surprised that neither one of us fell.

12) What is your favorite song in your phone now? Do you have a favorite group?

My favorite song would either be Cover Me Up by Morgan Wallen or Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs. Anyone who knows me knows that country music is all I listen to. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the car or before a game, country music will forever be superior. Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen are my two favorites and I have every single song by them memorized.

13) Your favorite movie of all time.

My favorite movie of all time would probably be The Martian. You can’t go wrong with Matt Damon and this is one of the few movies I think I could watch over and over and never get bored.

14) If you were sentenced to death but you were allowed to go on one last date, who would the lucky guy be? Why?

If I had one last date, it would be an easy choice. I would pick the one and only Matthew Nunes. Our dream day would consist of eating French toast and eggs for breakfast, spending all day at the lake, and then going to see our favorite person in the world, Luke Combs, in concert at night. We are also very competitive with each other so I would find something throughout the day at which I could beat him at.

I don't know about you, but I feel even better about the future of our country now. I think there's something in the water in all CISD schools. I'm one who gives the students full credit because you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Well, with that being said, you parents keep doing whatever it is that you're doing, too.

As for Marley, she, and The Woodlands High School girls' soccer team are in the Final 4 with her part of the Final 4 being played in Belton against Flower Mound.

Let's all root for the Lady Highlanders to win their next two games. Perhaps if they are victorious, Marley can cook us up some smooth on the palate, Shark meat!

Hey Marley, keep killing it out there on and off the field!!
