COLLEGE STATION, TX -- The Grand Oaks Grizzlies fought hard to stay in the playoffs against the Rockwall Yellowjackets in Game Two of the Region II-6A semifinal series, but the Grizzlies fell 7-1.

The Grizzlies drew first blood in the second inning. The bases were loaded after a walk, hit by pitch, and a single line drive to center field by Kyle Derusse. Jace Farnsworth achieved an RBI with a bases-loaded walk. This was the only run the Grizzlies scored on the day. The Grizzlies recorded four hits by three players, Shane Martin (2), Connor McBryde (1), and Derusse (1).

Jason Burger was on the mound for the grizzlies in the first five innings. Burger threw heat with his pitches, averaging around 86 to 89 mph through four innings. He had five strikeouts and was relieved in the fifth inning. Hamilton would step in at the mound to finish the sixth inning out.

The score was tied at one going into the sixth inning, but the Grizzlies would fail to capitalize on their opportunities. However, this wasn’t the case for the Yellowjackets. In the bottom of the inning, they drove in six runs after a muddle of errors by the Grizzlies. The seventh inning saw no triumphant comeback.

The Grizzlies end their first 6A season with 27 wins and a District 13-6A championship.
