THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Grand Oaks Grizzlies hosted the Willis Wildkats in their second faceoff of their series on Saturday afternoon. Grand Oaks took their first matchup 12-4 so Willis looks to take the win on Grand Oaks’ field.
It was looking like it was going to be a pitching battle but in the bottom of the third Grand Oaks was able to bring a runner in off a single hit. Willis quickly retired the side without any others crossing the plate but found themselves down 1-0.
The very next inning Willis was able to rally and get runners on base while the Grand Oaks pitcher struggled with a couple of balks. Wills drove one in with a double hit into the outfield and then was called for a balk that advanced a runner to third and another was able to walk in.
The damage was done and the pitching battle continued but Grand Oaks wasn’t able to come back from the 2-1 deficit.
Willis ties up the series with the 2-1 victory against Grand Oaks.
Grand Oaks faces The Woodlands in their next series while Willis takes on Cleveland.
