THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas is back in a big way. April 23 will mark the date for another Texas-sized race of stamina, dedication, and grit.

IRONMAN is an endurance race that has to be seen – or entered – to be believed. The race consists of a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride, and capped off by a full 26.2-mile marathon run, and all has to be completed within 17 hours from each individual’s start time.

IRONMAN personnel are still seeking volunteers to assist in this spectacular event. For the past nine years, Woodlands resident Sandra Sutherland has been the IRONMAN Texas Volunteer Director, and she and the other race organizers are looking forward to a significant turnout of volunteers that make this great race possible.

The volunteer teams include 65 Volunteer Captains with teams of volunteers anywhere for 25 - 60. These teams do everything from swim course swim spotters, to the run course aid stations, to teams of volunteers on the Hardy Toll Road, to Athlete Check In, and much more.

The event starts at 6:25 AM at Northshore Park, with the pro males, followed by the pro females, at 6:30 AM, and a rolling age group swim start. Several thousand spectators are expected to attend to cheer on thousands of athletes and dozens of volunteers.
