Taking it to the limit – Hotel California, the original Eagles tribute band, hits The Woodlands’ Dosey Doe - The Big Barn this Saturday

THE WOODLANDS, TX – They may have formed way back in 1986, but Hotel California will be the new kids in town this weekend as the original Eagles tribute band hits Dosey Doe - The Big Barn in The Woodlands.

The concert event starts this Saturday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. when the doors to Dosey Doe open and the kitchen starts preparing its hearty dinner selections to hungry attendees. After the plates have been cleared and the after-dinner drinks have been served, the band will take the stage in all of the Big Barn’s electrifying-but-intimate concert glory.

Woodlands Online was able to sit down with founder and multi-musician/vocalist Michael Dimulous for an interview where the origins and plans of this Ontario-based band were discussed.

Have you performed in The Woodlands or Texas before?

This is our first time playing The Woodlands and Dosey Doe, but we’ve been to Texas many times. The people here are fantastic and hospitable.

How did Hotel California come to be formed?

I was the original member back in 1986; we formed the band because no one was doing the Eagles back then and – to be honest – they’re the best. Their writing skills are next to none and their music is without equal. Paying proper tribute to their talents was a challenge we loved to take on.

What accounts for the enduring popularity of the music of the Eagles?

They’re a band that crossed genres and generations. They do rock, blues, ballads, country, the whole musical gamut. They provided great music for young and old and everyone in between. And this is reflected in our own fans; we even have had small children singing along with our songs at concerts because of their parents.

What’s it like continuing the legacy of the original band as tribute artists?

Our passion and our enjoyment of the music drive us to excel, and we do well wherever we play. Not only do we play note for note and keep as true to the original tunes as humanly possible, but we also have what I like to call The Sound; the meshing of the individual talents that the original Eagles also brought. And this is what the people want to hear.

Tell us about your band members.

It’s awesome to be playing with each other; we’re a very personable lot and people sometimes get surprised at how close we are – both in sound and in personalities. We love our home Canadian fans, but U.S. audiences are particularly responsive, and loudly so!

We have Andy Lapointe, who plays bass and sings the Joe Walsh songs, such as ‘Rocky Mountain Way.’ He’s been with the band since 1987, and has performed literally thousands of shows with us. Al Langlade plays electric and acoustic guitar, and sings the Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner tunes. Jay Riehl plays drums and is an incredible Don Henley sound-alike. And I play lead electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards, double neck guitar, and talk box and also sing backup vocals.

What would you say to people wondering what to do this Saturday night who haven’t yet bought tickets to the show?

If you’re looking for an authentic band who presents the music of the Eagles like no other, look no further. You’ll be in for a night of enjoyment of music, and will be given some time to just forget about the outside world and get lost in the music of Hotel California.
