Cypress Author To Read 'Who's a Good Duck?' at The Woodlands Children's Museum
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Cypress resident Barbara Belzer Adams, a writer and editor with Copybrighters LLC, will read her latest children's book, "Who's a Good Duck?" at The Woodlands Children's Museum on Friday, April 17.
Adams will read her book at 11 a.m., then sell and sign copies until 12:15 p.m.
The museum, at 4775 West Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, in The Woodlands, will also present a related children's art project that day.
"Who's a Good Duck?" written by Adams and illustrated by Mary Boyles Carr, is based on Adams's real-life friendship with an injured mallard she named Steve. The heartwarming story helps children develop empathy for both people and animals.
"My friendship with Steve became an important part of my life," Adams said. "I looked forward to seeing him every day, and it meant so much that Steve trusted me and also seemed to enjoy our time together, or at least the blueberries I fed him.
"I hope that the children who read and hear this book come to love Steve as much as I do."
Adams has also written a children's book series about a rare pediatric cancer called Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), inspired by her son, an LCH survivor.
Her age-appropriate books, "Someone I Know Has Histio," "Hold On, Henry" and "Casey and the Messy Clean Up Crew," are intended to help young patients and their friends, siblings and classmates understand the disease, how it’s treated, and the emotions that surround the disease and its treatment. The Histiocytosis Association provides the books for free to families affected by LCH through the support of an ongoing fundraising campaign.
"Who's a Good Duck?" is available on Amazon.
