Principal of Oak Ridge High School 9th Grade Campus Named at Board Meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At their meeting Tuesday night, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees approved Mrs. Shalanda Burks as the new principal of the Oak Ridge High School 9th Grade Campus.

In addressing the Board, Mrs. Burks stated, 'Thank you for this incredible honor to lead Oak Ridge High School 9th Grade Campus. I am truly grateful for the opportunity.” She continued her speech thanking her former supervisors, mentors, and family for the love, support, and guidance on helping her stand tall throughout her journey. She concluded with, “To the War Eagle Nation, I cannot wait to meet the staff, the students, and the families to help reignite the spirit that makes the Oak Ridge community so special. Let’s go, War Eagles!'

Shalanda Burks began her career in Conroe ISD in 2012 as a teacher and head cheer coach. Prior to being named principal of Oak Ridge High School 9th Grade Campus, she also served as an RTI interventionist, district instructional coach, and assistant principal.

Mrs. Burks is filling the position held by Mr. Shawn Almond who will be transitioning to the role of principal at Oak Ridge High School Main Campus.
