THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Cooper’s volleyball teams once again paired up with the Side-Out Foundation/Dig Pink® to help raise funds to fight breast cancer. The Side-Out Foundation is an organization that coordinates fundraising events for volleyball teams to support the development of treatments for stage IV breast cancer. In volleyball, side-out means regaining control of the ball. Similarly, The Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives.

Led by seniors Grace Minarovic and Rivers Kolesar, the 2022 Dragon volleyball teams raised funds for breast cancer research through t-shirt sales, Dig Pink® events and a bake sale culminating in an intense volleyball game versus Victoria St. Joseph. The final score was a 3-2 win for Cooper, but the real win was funds for breast cancer research.

Coach Courtney Eckenrode: WHAT A WIN! The Dragons secured a “reverse sweep” of the Flyers after being down 0-2 early and rallying back to secure a five-set victory! It takes a lot of heart, determination, and teamwork to do what the Dragons did on Thursday night in front of an energetic Dig Pink crowd! Rivers Kolesar and Julianne Hon led the way with 15 and 13 kills, respectively, while Lauren Wolford dished 39 assists. Summer Galinsky contributed tremendously behind the service line with seven services aces and zero errors! Finley Wheeler contributed 22 digs and Julianne Hon notched 17 digs. Grace Minarovic and Onese Ewherido worked hard for the Dragons tallying six blocks between the two of them. This win was a total team effort, and I am so proud of the team for this comeback win. Now it’s time to prepare for the SPC tournament next week!
