The Woodlands Township installs new directors and officers

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting and an Economic Development Zone (EDZ) Meeting on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, and installed new directors and officers.

The Woodlands Fire Department Honor Guard presented the colors at the beginning of the meeting.

Following recognition of public officials and public comment, The Woodlands Township Board recognized retiring directors Gordy Bunch, Bruce Rieser, John Anthony Brown and Jason J. Nelson with individual proclamations honoring their service to the community.

Montgomery County Precinct 3 County Commissioner James Noack administered the ceremonial oaths of office to newly elected Township directors Brad Bailey, Linda Nelson, Richard Franks and Kyle Watson.

The new directors were then officially seated, and a vote was taken among the board members to determine officers for the upcoming year. New officers are as follows: Chair Ann Snyder, Vice Chair Kyle Watson, Secretary Linda Nelson and Treasurer Richard Franks.

Newly elected directors and officers of The Woodlands Township serve in those same roles for the Economic Development Zone Board of Directors, which also held a meeting.

On the Regular Agenda, the Township Board:

• Interviewed candidates and received a briefing on the process for appointments to the Development Standards Committee.

• Approved the appointment of newly elected Directors to The Woodlands Township Economic Development Zone Board of Directors. View the Economic Development Zone Financial Report presentation.

• Received a briefing on the process for Board and Committee appointments at the December Board meeting.

• Approved the 2023 Operating Hours for the Boat Houses, Texas TreeVentures and Recreation Center facilities.

• Approved a proposal from Public Restroom Company for the restrooms at Capstone and Sundance Parks. View The Woodlands Township Capstone and Sundance Parks – Restrooms presentation.

• Awarded a bid for pool chemicals.

• Rejected bids for reforestation services and directed staff to re-bid the project

Earlier in the meeting, on the Consent Agenda, the Board:

• Received Administrative Reports for Community Services, Law Enforcement and Community Policing and The Woodlands Fire Department.

• Approved easement requests from AT&T through Township Open Space Reserves.

• Approved an easement request from Entergy to replace existing infrastructure in Township Open Space Reserves at the Village of Cochran’s Crossing Section 33, the Village of Alden Bridge Section 62 and the Village of Alden Bridge Section 70.

• Awarded a bid for Waterway fountains maintenance and additional aquatic services.

• Awarded a bid for 2023-2025 Concession Services at Gosling Sportsfields, Bear Branch Sportsfields and Rob Fleming Aquatics Center.

• Awarded bids or approved proposals for fireworks services, event production, pool furniture, fuel, and sound engineering.

The Board recessed to Executive Session and took no action.

Members of the public were able to address the Board at the beginning of the meeting. Village Association representatives also gave reports to the Board respective of their village activities.
