Third Place

Coach Friederike Engel: This weekend, we won third place in the LSA Invitational Tournament. The girls showed a lot of grit and determination and went 3-1 for the tournament. We lost a tough game against Lutheran South in the group stage which led to us playing in the third-place game instead of the championship. We won third place after penalty kicks. Freshman Chloe Hernandez, sophomore Sienna Williams, and junior Diana Ruiz scored their PKs and Anna Martinez saved two of the opponents in her second-ever game as a goalkeeper. Overall, it was a great team effort with contributions from many players. A few that were especially impressed with their performances were Chloe Hernandez, Kaitlyn Hinch, Eline van der Donckt, and Maddie van Osdell. Chloe Smith and Pia Quintana scored two goals each during the tournament, while Kaitlyn Hinch and Camila Ruano each scored one goal. Eline and Maddie significantly contributed to the strong defense this tournament and Anna Martinez had some fantastic saves. We go into winter break with a 6-2 record.
