DRC-MC Seeks Entries for 2023 Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest!

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Inc. (DRC-MC) is pleased to announce the schedule and guidelines for its 2023 Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest!

2023 Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest


The DRC-MC’s Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest is open to Montgomery County students in kindergarten through eighth grade. To enter, students should submit their original artwork drawn on bookmark size template available on our website, or on an 8½” x 11 sheet of paper with the image size being 3” high by 9” wide. The student must include their name, age and grade, school or program name, and their teacher’s name and address, written legibly on the back of the bookmark entry.

The bookmark art must reflect a conflict resolution or prevention themes such as peer mediation, bullying prevention, talking things out, apologizing, respecting differences, listening, tolerance, solving problems together, peace building, or other alternatives to violence.

All original artwork must be received before 5:00 p.m. on March 13, 2023. Artwork may be mailed or delivered to Elaine Roberts, Dispute Resolution Center, 301 N. Thompson Street, Suite 106, Conroe, Texas 77301 or delivered to the Children’s Department at any Montgomery County Memorial Library Branch. Faxed or emailed bookmarks will not be accepted.

On March 28, 2023, the bookmark art judging will occur and winning art from each grade will be selected based on creativity and message. Panels of volunteer judges from the art, mediation and legal communities will determine which bookmarks win monetary prizes, as well as which ones will be laminated and distributed throughout the county. Winners’ names will be posted on the DRC-MC’s website by April 13, 2023.

The Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., at the Montgomery County Jury Selection Room at 301 N. Thompson Street, Conroe, TX. Judge Kathleen Hamilton will present monetary prizes to the winning student artists and bullying prevention books to their teachers. Following the ceremony, all winning bookmarks will be on display in the Children’s Department at the Montgomery County Memorial Library System, Central Branch, for at least thirty days. The bookmarks selected by the contest judges for distribution be distributed at public locations throughout Montgomery County.
