THE WOODLANDS, TX – The John Cooper school welcomed a former alum and current medical doctor to its board of directors recently. Arti (Allam) Thangudu, MD, from the school’s class of 2003, is a physician entrepreneur who founded her direct care endocrinology practice, Complete Medicine, in 2019. Even post-graduation and before her board selection, she maintained a relationship with the school as a ‘Cooper parent’ of two children, Ava and Sri.

After she graduated from JCS, Dr. Thangudu completed her undergraduate degree at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, then earned her MD at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She conducted her internship in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, then residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine & Endocrinology, and her fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is triple board certified in Internal Medicine; Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Lifestyle Medicine.

Early in her career at UPMC, Dr. Thangudu implemented virtual and tech solutions to augment diabetes care through tele-endocrinology and continuous glucose monitoring. She subsequently learned about barriers to care in the traditional healthcare setting and has since been committed to overcoming them.

This led to her founding of Complete Medicine, which became successful enough to result in a partnership with Health by Design, an employer-based clinic, to optimize diabetes outcomes in their police and fire retiree population. She now additionally serves as a consultant to several companies in need of expertise in metabolic disease and outcomes driven care.
