THE WOODLANDS, TX – This weekend we segue from March into April, and if the adage ‘April showers bring May flowers’ is true, then we should have wall-to-wall flora soon enough.

Sweltery weekend presages a rainy week

The heat is on this afternoon, and we’ll be back into the 80s by lunchtime, settling around 86 for the high in the mid afternoon. Right around the same time, the clouds will begin to dissipate and the spiking winds will settle down as the pressure front increases. The humidity will remain at moderate levels, keeping it from getting too uncomfortable. There’s the slightest chance of sprinkles throughout the day and evening, but nothing that would require galoshes. Overnight, we’ll enjoy a starry night in the 60s. Looks like a great evening to hit BBQ Weekend at the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo.

Saturday as we wake up, the preceding weather pattern will do a 180 on several fronts. The humidity and dew point will simultaneously plummet like a synchronized pair of paralyzed falcons, as the temperature soars from 64 to 88 in a matter of a few hours Once we hit our afternoon high, the clouds will return in force, the dew point and humidity will join hands and crawl back in an upward trend, and the pressure front will begin a general decline. If you want to party for a good cause, head over to Sawyer Park Icehouse for A Tribute to Live Aid benefitting nonPareil. The overnight low will once again be in the mid 60s, but we can kiss off our chances of seeing the stars through the clouds.

Sunday morning will start off rather mild, with nary a hint of what’s to come later in the day. True, sunrise will be hidden behind near-total cloud coverage, but we’ll enjoy temps in the 60s and 70s until mid-afternoon. Then the heavens will open and the thunderstorms will commence in earnest and stick around until bedtime; we’ll end up with a muggy low of 69. Perhaps you’ll want to best make use of the better weather earlier in the day by celebrating Palm Sunday with your family.

Despite the wet end to the weekend, early next week looks sunnier… for a day or two…
