THE WOODLANDS, TX – John Cooper celebrated five athletes who decided to commit to their respected colleges for Academics as well as Athletics on Wednesday morning. Along with family and friends the athletes committed to their schools for their next chapter in their lives.

What is the significance about this day?
John Hoye - Director of Athletics: “I think it is our opportunity to recognize the hard work that our seniors and really all of our student athletes have put forth this year and really their four years of high school here.”

What is the importance of selecting a college?
Hoye: “The importance is, they need to feel comfortable and they are conscious about the majors that the university has to offer. As an academic school, they are thinking long term, they want to use the athletics and their sport to make their education well rounded.”

Does the education need to be as important as the athletics?
Hoye: “Yes, definitely. There is a time limit on how long you’re going to be participating in athletics. And exploration of the education that they’re going to receive at their universities is second to none.”
