THE WOODLANDS, TX -- St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands Hospital has earned redesignation as a Comprehensive (Level I) Stroke Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The designation is the highest a hospital can earn from DSHS for stroke care.

“This recognition speaks to the expert care delivered every day from our remarkable team of caregivers and support staff,” said Jim Parisi, president of St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands Hospital. “This is yet another reason why our communities can trust St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands for treatment of even the most complex stroke cases.”

The designation from DSHS recognizes St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands Hospital for its commitment to delivering safe, high-quality stroke care based on evidence-based protocols and a multidisciplinary approach for the treatment, management, and rehabilitation of stroke patients.

“Your hospital is commended for its commitment to quality care and the commitment to achieve and maintain a Comprehensive (Level I) designation,” said Timothy Stevenson, associate commissioner, Consumer Protection Division, Texas Department of State Health Services. “Congratulations to you and your staff for the vital role the hospital provides to your community.”

The Comprehensive Stroke Center at St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands Hospital, a DNV-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, recently also received 2023 Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll awards from the American Heart Association.

This DSHS designation is valid for a three-year period, expiring September 1, 2026.
