THE WOODLANDS, TX – In seven short days the window will close for you to register for this November’s election, if you haven’t already. At the rate of growth of Montgomery County, and possibly the summer moves many families undertook before school started, even registered voters might have to fill out new forms, and the clock is ticking.

Oct. 10 is the deadline for your mailed-in registration forms

For those who like to take things to the last minute, be aware that your voter registration form must be filled out in physical form and mailed to the Elections Administrator; there are no complete online versions of the form. Even if you fax in your completed voter registration form, you must follow it up with a mailed copy that is received no more than four days after the fax.

To save on ink, the Montgomery County Elections website has an informal online application that you can type your answers into the fields, then print the completed page off for mailing. If it’s easier for you to drive than to find a stamp and a mailbox, you can also hand-deliver your completed form to the Elections Administrator at 9159 Airport Road in Conroe.

To register to vote in Texas, you must have a valid state-issued identification such as a driver’s license. Non-driving IDs are available for those who don’t or can’t drive. This photo ID must be brought with you to your polling place whether during early voting or on Election Day.

Currently, there are 422,432 registered voters in Montgomery County out of a total population of about 650,000 – not too shabby considering the total population includes youths ineligible to vote – but every ballot is needed this November due to the import of selecting Woodlands Township board members and whether or not to pass up to four bond issues affecting Conroe Independent School District, as well as numerous other races and referenda.

Remember that early voting for this election takes place October 23 through November 3, and you can vote at any of the county locations during this time; on Election Day – November 7 – you must vote in your precinct’s official polling location.
